Paint the Rainbow
“Paint the Rainbow” is an initiative aimed at spreading love and joy among children and communities through art, education, and cultural activities, while fostering long-term social impact.
The project began with the establishment of an art school in Silikhaguri, a remote village in Assam, made possible with the support of Prashant, a local villager who volunteered to bring Tuhina’s vision to life. Inspired by its success, another art school was launched in Khas Sankdaha, West Bengal, expanding the initiative’s reach.
In addition to promoting artistic expression, the initiative prioritizes education and skill development. Tuhina runs a free tutorial center for 9th and 10th standard girls in her village, empowering them to achieve academic successalong with the free drawing school for younger children to nurture creativity. To further bolster educational opportunities, the project provides a small library with textbooks for 9th and 10th standard students. These efforts in Khas Sankdaha are implemented in collaboration with Naba Diganta, ensuring sustainability and consistent community support.
“Paint the Rainbow” aligns closely with several United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). By providing inclusive education and reducing educational disparities, it supports SDG 4: Quality Education. Its focus on empowering young girls aligns with SDG 5: Gender Equality, ensuring that girls have access to educational resources and opportunities for personal growth. By promoting cultural activities and the arts, the initiative contributes to SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities, fostering social cohesion and cultural appreciation. Additionally, the provision of free educational resources and collaborative community partnerships address SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities, ensuring that underprivileged children and girls are not left behind.
Through “Paint the Rainbow,” Tuhina and her collaborators are not only enriching lives through art and education but also paving the way for empowered, sustainable, and equitable communities.
